When people start to change in ways you have not known of before,it can look to you like they have mental illness that needs fixing. But listen to them, they are speaking from pain of erasure,of a truth they have never been able to tell that has led to this enormity of their pain.
Having a career as a disabled woman should not be shocking, concerning or inspirational.
Rejection is not personal failure.
For whoever needs to hear this today: break ups are hard but what is harder is to want to connect back to someone who doesn’t exist anymore. Listen to them. They are done. They don’t want to engage with you in the same way as before. You don’t want that.
You don’t have to commit to wanting to see a relationship through because you share a label with the person, what you may want to do instead is build an honest conversation in the right now about what you want for them and you. That’s your anti patriarchal move for today.
Allow children to quit, without shame. The music class, the dance class, the basketball class, the math homework, the hindi homework. Uncouple exploration from shame. Quitting doesn’t make you a loser. Make letting go of what doesn’t serve, and coming to what one wants, a norm.
Sometimes living in the present can be very difficult. To force yourself to do so is unkind. You can always choose to listen to your body and mind and gently guide it towards what you need or choose not to do so. It's okay.
Anger doesn't need management, it needs to be carefully leaned into, to give voice to the pain of what's being transgressed.
Oppression doesn’t happen only on big platforms, it also happens in daily life. Challenge to oppression also happens in daily life, like protest to capitalism through procrastination.
