This WSJ piece makes clear that the Heritage Foundation’s internal clash over Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes isn’t just a think tank problem—it’s a warning for the entire MAGA movement. Principled conservatism can’t survive by ignoring extremism. wsj.com/politics/polic…
Peter Thiel: If you graduated in 1970 with no student debt, compare that to the millennial experience: too many people go to college, they don’t learn anything, and they end up with incredibly burdensome debt. Student debt is a version of this generational conflict that I’ve…
I spent all Wednesday and Thursday trying to compress my affordability theory into a sentence … and … he just … tweeted it out
History shows us that having too much debt during an economic downturn leads to a classic, self-reinforcing cycle where: 1) The empire can no longer borrow the money to repay its debts 2) It prints a lot of new money, which devalues the currency and raises inflation 3) Living…
Trouble ahead for GOP in '26 Midterms?
🚨 Economic confidence falls sharply as shutdown impact grows. ✅️ Just 26% of voters say their finances are getting better, and another 39% say they are getting worse. ✅️ That's down sharply from two weeks ago when 31% said better and 31% said worse. ✅️ Voters are now…
Occasional reminder that Democrats' defeat of George Bush's Social Security reform in 2006 has caused taxpayers to miss out on a 366% gain on their money and that many of the architects of that defeat -- Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi -- are still leaders of the Democratic party.

What if I told you healthcare is actually cheap and healthcare bureaucracy is expensive
The health care industrial complex. Iron triangle of government, “insurance” companies and hospitals. Patients left behind.
The partisan realignment in full view. The "diploma divide" is explaining the GOP's new bent towards populist/working class messaging
The working class didn't fall for Zohran, college grads did.
The question for Dems is… Now what? Questions remain for Dem brand and identity for ‘26 and beyond.
No president in the last 22 years has had more than 12 straight months with an approval rating over 50 percent, and the entire developed world is basically in a protracted convulsion over cost of living concerns and kicking out various bums from office. This is not the only…
Seems like the commentary from every election cycle is that voters are in a state of discontent and seeking change.
Sears ran a single-issue campaign with $10 million in venomous anti-trans ads (a 41% issue in the state). She ran nothing on the economy, jobs, taxes, schools, health, or roads/highways. The result is a statewide bloodbath all the way down ballot. Perhaps there's a lesson here.
A helpful post on polarization: Democratic voters shifted left in the 2010s, Republicans did not shift right. But in Congress it's the opposite. So each side can say the other one became extremists
Has the Democratic Party moved left? Yes, on some issues a lot (figure on the left). But the ideology of the Republican party has become far more extreme overall (figure on the right).
I found an interesting graph about yesterday’s elections
Spanberger and Sherrill are what Democrats hoped Hillary Clinton would be. They are strong and experienced and moderate and female. But they are also veterans of the CIA and Navy—and don’t have the baggage and negatives of the Clinton name. This is what’s possible nationwide…
It’s shaping up to be huge night for moderate, white, women Democrats with a background in national security. Spanberger was a CIA officer. Sherrill a Navy chopper pilot. If Democrats want to continue to win statewide and national elections—and get independents and some…
“One party goes to the extreme, and the other responds by going to the other extreme, while most people feel like political beggars. The two parties forgot that people kill themselves working simply to survive” english.elpais.com/usa/2025-11-03…

WATCH: When I was in public service, I looked at everyone as my friends with different ideas. Today, our elected representatives rarely talk to each other, much less work together on legislation, because making political statements and holding the party line is the name of the…
Republicans are pursuing a highly risky strategy on redistricting. The White House seems unaware you can’t just “draw” more GOP seats. You must win them. By diluting the GOP base, you are less likely to win any given seat, so the worst time to redraw is during a strong Dem cycle.
And we have a massive Baby Bust, Yet... 1) Our federal government continues to massively transfer wealth from 30-somethings (the age of family-formation) to old folks 2) Republican state governments are considering exempting the elderly from property taxes!
Old people (75+) are increasingly wealthy. Young people (<35) are increasingly not. This new paper suggests that the reason behind these divergent trends is... mostly housing!
