This morning, the government announced that the #WarmHomeDiscount could be expanded to almost 3 million more UK households. Our Chief Executive @adam_scorer says this could help 'those in real hardship'.

Following the energy price cap announcement, our Chief Executive @adam_scorer says that this news will 'add to the burden on the most vulnerable'. Our latest @Yougov polling shows that nearly half of adults across GB expect to ration their energy.

Just now, @Ofgem confirms that the typical energy bill will increase by over £100. This is the third successive increase to the energy price cap. Millions are already in fuel poverty and are facing crushing debt and are struggling to stay warm, safe and healthy.

'It should not fall to a charity like us to address the failings of government schemes and commercial firms' - our Chief Executive Adam Scorer on the damage failed retrofit schemes can do and why we stepped in to help householders in Preston.(1/2)

@energygovuk has published two important consultations relating to fuel poverty today. 1. Refreshing the Fuel Poverty Strategy 2. Improving the energy performance of privately rented homes in England and Wales Lets see what they say!
Under plans to raise home energy efficiency standards, private landlords will be required to upgrade properties. This will mean renters will no longer find themselves living in cold, draughty homes. 1/2

Today @MayorofLondon and @londoncouncils launched Warmer Homes London – a new programme to help vulnerable Londoners heat their homes and save money, which will make it easier for boroughs and housing associations to access Government funding for energy-saving home upgrades.
'The UK government must now seize the opportunity', Our Chief Executive @adam_scorer responds to @energygovuk announcing a new fuel poverty strategy and a consultation on new energy efficiency standards in the private rented sector across England and Wales.

Our Chief Executive @adam_scorer thanks #FuelPovertyConf delegates for sharing their experiences and commends them on their work to help the most vulnerable.

To Liverpool and the @NEA_UKCharity annual #FuelPovertyConf. Storm wracked it may be, but it'll be enlightening, motivating and determined. Over 350 people and some phenomenal speakers. Always fabulous to be with hundreds of fuel poverty champions.
Less than three weeks until our annual #FuelPovertyConf. There's still a chance to join us in Liverpool to discuss what more needs to be done so everyone can live in a warm, safe and healthy home. Register here: buff.ly/3C1HJ1u

Lots to unpack here. Lets give it a go. 🧵
We are proposing suppliers introduce zero standing charge tariffs Follow the link for more on how we plan to mandate suppliers to offer zero standing charge tariffs alongside the price cap as well as reforms to reduce energy debts ➡️ow.ly/U4EV50UpESi

A big thank you to all our amazing corporate volunteers this #InternationalVolunteerDay. Your support has meant we can get more Winter Warmth Support Packs to those in need 💛 @VirginMoney, @SoEnergyUK, @eonenergyuk, @nationalgriduk, @Siemens_Energy, @Zenergi, @SwitcheeLtd

🙌 We're delighted to have won the @BBCFoodProg Derek Cooper Outstanding Achievement Award at last night's #bbcfoodawards! It's given to an individual or organisation whose work has brought about real change in our relationship with food. Read more: bit.ly/3OFowoZ…

Thank you to all of the organisations and individuals that have shared their support to our #FuelPovertyAwarenessDay. Our Head of Policy @Matt_Copeland1 highlights the key changes for fuel poor households over the last year.
So inspiring to see such a range of organisations posting about #FuelPovertyAwarenessDay. Always a show of strength in the movement. So many working so hard to keep people warm at home. Much has happened since the last awareness day. Here are my reflections on the last year:
We've opened a bursary scheme for our annual conference in Liverpool. The funding provided by @OctopusEnergy will cover attendance, accommodation and travel to organisations that otherwise would not be able to attend. buff.ly/4eA03vD

So impressed with @NEA_UKCharity press office. Know bills their thing but plenty of press people don't respond well when it's their thing. NEA had some brill information and pledged to come back on my slightly off beam question without than it sound like a chore. Five stars
'Now we know there will be no let up into January and beyond.' Our Chief Executive @adam_scorer responds to the news that the #PriceCap will rise by 1% in January.

With energy bills expected to rise again in January, Datshiane Navanayagam looks into the different ways you can cut the cost of your energy bill. Energy Bills: Can You Spend Less? on ITV1 at 8:30pm. Get involved using #ITVTonight

#Budget2024 makes a down-payment on Warm Homes Plan (good) but leaves a lot to redeem over rest of parliament - about £10bn. Not all of today's announcement is for fuel poor homes & not clear whether previous Govt's commitments still stand. Lots to unpick. Lots of work for CSR.
Following #Budget2024, our Chief Executive @adam_scorer says it 'will not lessen the impact of unaffordable energy bills and record levels of energy debt this winter.'
