How can randomness be a source of living order? Can physics explain how an embryo emerges out of chaos? In this new paper in @science, former @CSLab_UPF member Bernat Corominas-Murtra & @EdouardHannezo & cols. show how embryos solve their own Rubik’s cube ist.ac.at/en/news/from-c…

1. Many consider brms to be one of the best pieces of statistical software out there. 2. Being Paul's PhD student for the last 3 years, I know for sure that his writing skills are next-level. Combining 1 and 2, this book is bound to be great. For the nerds: p(great | 1, 2) =💯

In our new article in @NaturePlants, led by Kun Guo and Wenyong Guo, we investigated Elton's naturalization hypothesis using a large dataset of Czech non-forest vegetation. This hypothesis states that species-rich communities are more resistant to invasion by alien species.…

Looks like a cool paper! General question about DID: does it assume linearity (or at least a known functional form)? E.g. if y = {2,4} and x = {3,9} for times 1 & 2, then DID is (9-4)-(3-2) = 4 - so, maybe a treatment effect, or just a nonlinear function, e.g. f(t+1) = f(t)^2.
