Last month I presented a poster at my first @CogCompNeuro. It was the perfect venue to get inspiration and ideas for future projects as I continue to work with @cognoman5 but now as a PhD student @BSBEIITK1 @IITKanpur.

Grateful to present at the EMBO Neuroscience of Sleep Workshop! Many thanks to @EMBO for the travel grant & this incredible opportunity. Amazing to connect with sleep scientists worldwide, studying sleep in everything from flies to sea lions, octopuses to reindeer, & beyond!

Rakshita Deshmukh from IIT Kanpur presented her work on the impact of N3 sleep on anxiety behaviours - supporting N3 sleep manipulation as a non-invasive and non-pharmacological intervention for anxiety-related cognitive dysfunctions. #EMBOneuroSleep

Now is an exciting time to be preparing a new open publishing platform (nmop.io). Feels like there's something in the air. We're finally reaching breaking point with big commercial publishers. 🎉 Hoping to start building it in earnest some time this year. 🤞

Neuroscientists shunning Elsevier, and Political Philosophers abandoning Wiley. Is the big 5 commercial publishing house of cards about to collapse? Where’s the free labour going to come from now? AI editors and reviewers? #EthicalPublishing

Birds give up the complexity of song for volume in noisy places - so they sing louder but less interesting (to both humans & mates) songs in cities. When traffic noise in San Francisco fell due to COVID, birds began to sing more complex, quieter songs like they did 50 years ago!
