I work in North Africa and it is incredible how much money we get for migration projects basically designed to keep migrants this side of the Med. Italy, Germany and the EU itself all throwing money at us and we gladly accept it. We are part of the problem.

I work for the UN and in the past year the number of operational programmes has understandably decreased, while my workload has bizarrely increased. We are experts at creating useless bureaucratic systems.


I'm based in Latin America, burnt out and half my european colleagues are working out of country houses and getting vaccinated. If I get another meeting request at 6 am, I might just quit.
