Imagine being a fly on the wall in a frog’s world 🐸 Over the past few months, Audiomoth recorders have gathered crucial audio data of Gunbower's frogs. We're excited to 'hop' into the data to uncover what the frogs have to say about their home. #CMAsGetItDone
After lots of digging and tree climbing the @OpenAcoustics #AudioMoths, developed as part of the @WILDLABSNET Awards 2024, are deployed. Lucky enough to see a wild elephant on the way home too! @LydiaKatsis @ZSLconservation is collecting data in a few weeks🤞for rumbles
Preparing @OpenAcoustics #AudioMoth_Dev for field trials as part of the @WILDLABSNET Awards 2024 with @LydiaKatsis @ZSLconservation These use the new AudioMoth Dev Case with GPS, external audio sensors and custom audio circuitry to enhance low frequency elephant rumbles
Have you heard of an audiomoth? 👂 Audiomoths are portable sound recorders and in Orkney we've been using them to record bats! The graph below shows the call of a common pipistrelle bat - can you spot the characteristic 'hockey stick' shape of the call on the spectogram?

If you are using the AudioMoth USB Microphone with Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm you will need to change the PipeWire configuration to allow sample rates other than 48kHz. We've added instructions in the AudioMoth-Live GitHub repository. Older versions of the OS work fine.
Experimenting with visualisation of GPS synchronised @OpenAcoustics AudioMoth recordings. These are some test recordings from last summer of an air horn on a football pitch.
First recording from @DorsetWildlife of dolphin clicks recorded by an AudioMoth Dev and Aquarian H2A hydrophone on a free-floating bouy in Lyme Bay, UK. The buoy transmits GPS position over LoRa so it can be easily recovered.
An infrasonic elephant rumble recorded at @ZSLWhipsnadeZoo with an AudioMoth and a custom low-frequency microphone and low-pass amplifier as part of the @WILDLABSNET awards 2024, together with @OfficialZSL #Tech4Wildlife.
I put an @OpenAcoustics AudioMoth inside an IKEA SOLVINDEN lantern to make an ultrasonic-triggered bat lantern. The sound is from an AudioMoth USB Microphone and the AudioMoth Live app.
As part of our @WILDLABSNET awards 2024 project, we've been developing sensors for soil acoustics. This one incorporates a 50mm piezo disc and a high-impedance JFET amplifier, enabling it to be plugged directly into AudioMoth.
Thrilled to be alongside absolutely incredible leaders in #bioacoustics & #ecoacoustics for the next @WILDLABSNET Virtual Meetup series! 🔊 I'm speaking in session 4, talking about how to translate #bioacoustic data into #conservation action & work we're doing at @WildMon_AI!
📢 Join us for Virtual Meetups Season 5, where we're tuning in to #bioacoustics! Before our horizon scan, we're convening cross-sector experts to explore key innovation frontiers like hardware, AI, data mobilisation, & scientific impact. Register here: wildlabs.net/virtual-meetup…
Scottish agricultural support is placing emphasis on monitoring biodiversity on farms, and one way to monitor this is by using bioacoustics. This article explains what is involved, including info on research at SRUC's Hill and Mountain Research Centre. 🦇 fas.scot/article/collec…
In the photo category, we have @grizzlygirl87 monitoring the effect of sea ice dynamics on polar bears, @jopicq demonstrating the power of camera traps to save wildlife (and all they endure thanks to nature), and @OpenAcoustics detecting infrasonic elephant rumbles.
