Current (and likely future) Covid-19 vaccines are pretty feeble in their ability to prevent infection / transmission. Though, they are fantastic at reducing the risk of severe disease and death upon infection (see e.g below).

Latest four weeks of @UKHSA data with ONS denominators. Omicron is fully dominant in England at this point, and this comes through in the mess of case rates; vaccine protection not that good vs Omicron cases. Thankfully, still *very* strong against serious illness and death.

By the way, a full course of tetanus vaccination consists of 5 doses of the vaccine. Also every 10 years, one should get a booster.

Firecrackers that sound like guns should be banned. A person could get shot and you would still be thinking it's Firecrackers.

South Africa decreases restrictions in spite of #Omicron dominating all of the infections. This action is puzzling to the world. Here are a few thoughts on why the government in SA may be correct by acting in this way... Tweets 1/8

It was Tutu, Winnie Mandela and others that remained in the country in the 80s who truly led the fight against apartheid. The rest were killing fellow comrades at MK camps and enjoying alcohol. Tutu’s contribution can’t be reduced to the TRC.

Not sure why everyone is so surprised about waning antibodies. This is how the immune system works. IgG has a half life of ~30 days and, once antigen is gone, fades away leaving memory B and T cells. Look how one of the main immunology books picture it.
