I remember so many of my friends getting bent out of shape about this. And I was like did we watch the same show, because she never said get rid of your books. Does it spark joy is a hugely effective question for getting rid of things you don’t need! I got rid of tons of clothes!
Marie Kondo’s actual minimalist style isn’t for me, but as someone with a hoarding disorder, her ‘does this spark joy?’ framing has actually been more helpful to me than a lot of the therapeutic interventions I’ve tried.
