Become a programmer, become inevitable
I use nvim and I wouldn’t recommend newer programmers to jump into it (esp if they aren’t familiar with vim keybindings) As long as it’s a fast and extensible text editor where you can incrementally learn about lsps, grepping, and etc, it’s fine
No. Learn your keyboard shortcuts
A common Programmer brag is being extremely adept at keyboard shortcuts. Tiling WMs, TUIs, Vim keybindings everywhere, etc... But is it actually faster? Apple spent $50 million on R&D in 1989 to prove otherwise:
The yankee mind actually can
the yankee mind cannot comprehend the sydney property market
One of many
I never understood the pride some people take in not learning programming. It’s not the flex you think it is.
AI tools will reduce the need for software engineers the same way that no-code tools reduced this. Being able to specify what software you want to build, how it should be structured, and how *exactly* it should work is... programming. And getting into the weeds, when needed.
This gotta be the most gangster map of all time
You can get this experience in SF pretty easily, any day of the year
meanwhile this is the 5 min walk to the grocery store… the american mind can’t comprehend
if you are sneaking in some conviviality on a friday while oncall and get paged and put out a fire while finishing your beer thats based. if you bring your laptop to performatively do work for no reason on friday thats very gay
SF fixing itself is going to become a giant story
In the first quarter of 2025, property crimes in San Francisco dropped 45%. You're not crazy, things really are getting better! growsf.org/news/2025-04-1…
This whole zero sum game mentality is cringe man
Software engineers are highly-paid farmers, tending their crops by hand. We just invented the combine harvester. The world is going have a lot more food and a lot fewer farmers in very short order.

Because I know most people can’t or simply won’t read Parker’s actual tweet Rippling v Deel is almost unbelievable LEGIT honeypot use ??? READ THIS PART —>
I agree with the sentiment on removing noise, but readability needs to begin at some layer. And even if LLMs become pure codegen interfaces, I’d rather talk to them programmatically.
This applies to codebases too Most codebases are organized into files/folders to organize for humans to click through Easier to simply make the entire multi million line codebase one file
I'm not necessarily against non-terminal editors, but writing code in an electron app is asinine
VScode is DOG SHIT SOFTWARE and every. single. technical. person. i know. does NOT TOLERATE IT
Doing anything math and physics adjacent will be positive ROI…this is bad advice
Now is a turbulent time in our economy. My eldest son just started college. He asked me what careers to pursue, and what to avoid. Here’s what I told him:
Was r1 ever SOTA? Maybe for OSS but it never surpassed O1…unless I’m missing something
In just the past few weeks: o1-pro was SOTA Deepseek r1 was SOTA o3‑mini was SOTA Grok 3 was SOTA Claude 3.7 was SOTA Can you feel the acceleration?
