This painting is called A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains ( 千里江山圖 ) by Song Dynasty painter Wang Ximeng (王希孟 ). It is considered one of the best examples of Chinese painting ever made.
This is the whole point actually
My hot take: I think that someone should make a canon for aerospace/defense tech vc investing, just as the humanities have a canon of great books. I’m making an essay on this but if anyone has anything they recommend let me know.
Are you interested in Los Angeles’ aerospace/defense startup ecosystem? Come to Trajectory Thursday on June 5th from 6pm-8:30pm in Santa Monica to hear a panel with @KevinNoertker of @AmpaireInc and Vincent Finello of Mandala Space Ventures! Sign up here: lu.ma/r47k0zqn
When you solely focus on founder, like solely focus on them. The first meeting they have with you will be so fundamentally different from any other investor meeting they will have. That is a mega competitive advantage and a way better founder experience.
After trying to get into vc after a year something has come to me: I wanna be the weird VC. But I wanna be weird in the best way. If I live to be very old, I wanna be the Charlie Munger of VC, the old man who is quirky, who is grounded, and calls out foolishness!
A strategic LP LLM would be amazing…
“Our reliance is in the love of liberty which God has planted in our bosoms. Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands, everywhere.” -Abraham Lincoln, Speech at Edwardsville, September 11, 1858
People ask me sometimes why I read books on the lives of John C. Calhoun, Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, and the Civil War. While I do it becuase I love history, it’s also because it helps me to understand where awful ideas like the one tweet below come from!
We have 2 years left to bring this map to life in time for our 250th birthday
I just posted a new Substack post on my blog Venturing Through Venture explaining my views on thought leadership in tech/vc and the importance of first principles. I also throw in a little bit of Mencius and Confucius too lol. Click on the link below! open.substack.com/pub/venturingt…
They don’t want you to know this but you can go to a 5 star hotel lobby and just hang out there without staying there
Me when I see/hear fellow Gen Z VCs associates acting badly:
The recent criticism towards vc associates that happened on VC twitter a few weeks ago becomes much more intelligible in light of events such as these. #VentureCapital #vc #ohsweetjesus
Just got this text from a 23-year old VC associate that recently joined our board.
Fun Fact: I actually have this painting (A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains) on the back of my venture capital business card lol! I did it so that my card and I would leave a memorable impression on those who receive it. #ThinkOutsideTheBox #VentureCapital #WantToBeAContrarian
