Defeating traffic is the ultimate boss battle. Even the most powerful humans in the world cannot defeat traffic.
If I buy an electric car in British Columbia I can get a government subsidy of $3000 but contribute to traffic congestion. If I buy an ebike I don't get any government subsidy unless I scrap a car but I don't contribute to traffic congestion. Make it make sense.
I think one thing that bonds most people who ride bikes is an appreciation of the beauty of passing through the world lightly. Pointless war fueled by territorial ambition that will lead to completely preventable human suffering is the antithesis of this.
Too many people spend their lives being dutiful descendants instead of good ancestors. The responsibility of each generation is not to please their predecessors. It's to improve things for their offspring. It's more important to make your children proud than your parents proud.
