Does anyone know where the idea that autistic people lack imagination originally comes from? I spent my childhood immersed in imaginary worlds which felt just as real to me as reality. I want to understand where the idea autistic people lack imagination comes from.

We want to thank the guys at @MFCFoundation and @NCS - National Citizen Service for the amazing work this week. We couldnt be more grateful to be chosen to raise funds for and allow our projects to continue to grow #community #teesside #TeesValleyBuddies #charity #volunteer
I spent 9 years volunteering when I was younger for St John and it gave me an incredible sense of pride and purpose. I gave it up to chase other dreams and I've been aimlessly chasing ever since. To find that same feeling after 10+ years. Priceless
A reminder that brains are NOT gendered. There is no male or female #autism - it comes down to prejudice and socialisation, as @KieranRose7 has written about. nature.com/articles/d4158…

Since #autistic is trending please remember that: - Autistic people aren’t “faking bc it’s trendy.” We are real. - We’re disabled, not “special needs.” - “Asperger’s” and functioning labels are harmful ableist terms. - We aren’t “superheroes.” - You shouldn’t believe stereotypes.
Autistic people have different sensory experiences than neurotypical people. This means we often set up our sensory environments very differently, and this can make autistic households very different than neurotypical ones
Why is #autistic trending? No more of this pessimistic musing, I’m gonna make up some fun reasons: -new dinosaur chicken nugget shape -famous person opened up about being autistic -autism speaks HQ burned to the ground -someone finally figured out why we all have GI problems

Yet another complaint into @arrivanortheast Just weeks after my last due to the carelessness towards their disabled passengers. Last bus and now my disabled partner with chronic pain has to walk several miles home because they failed to stop. Why am I not surprised.
Last week @TeeswideSAB hosted a ‘Creating Safer Cultures’ awareness campaign. Thank you to all who took part and helped us to share key messages. Together we can prevent and respond to adult abuse and neglect. See it Report it! tsab.org.uk/report-abuse/

Like many autistic people, my least favourite emotion is confusion. I think this stems from a lifetime of feeling as though everyone knows something that we don’t, and knowing that not only are we disadvantaged by this, but we are prone to receiving harsh judgement because of it.
