Maybe I got this from my parents but I’ve had the same 100 dollar bill in my wallet for at least the past decade without ever touching it. Does anyone actually use cash on a daily basis?
How much cash do you carry on you?
“May I meet you?”
I hear from many young men that they find it difficult to meet young women in a public setting. In other words, the online culture has destroyed the ability to spontaneously meet strangers. As such, I thought I would share a few words that I used in my youth to meet someone that…
80% of my long term money is in a couple index funds and a damn target date fund and I’ve forgotten more about investing than a good chunk of you will ever know. Take from that what you will. I know my retirement is a certainty. And if it’s not we’ve all got bigger problems.
Sometimes compounders stop compounding. What lesson do you take away from this?
I've held onto some CRCL shares for a while now as my only play on the crypto industry outside of being a long term BTC investor, and CRCL's relative strength in the US as stablecoin usage continues to mature. All that logic was great but WOOF.
I don’t know what stage of the cycle this is and I own BTC but it’s nuts.
WHY I LOVE THE 50-YEAR MORTGAGE: Here’s the full picture of the 50-year mortgage opportunity, including the extra interest you get "wrecked" by on the 50-year mortgage. Monthly payments (6% interest, $500k home): • 30-year: $2,997.75 • 50-year: $2,632.02 • Monthly…
I’d take this era of fintwit back in a heartbeat if it would replace the 50-year mortgage discourse.
Long term performance of stocks vs housing, per WSJ:
The convenient thing about labels like “upper middle class” is that no one seems to define it the same way. Is NYC to expensive for working folks? Yup. Am I confident I could live there in my younger years making 140k? Yes. It would not be remotely hard.
“These people who would have been yuppies 40 years ago are now kind of struggling,” Mr. Mahler said. “They are making $120,000, $140,000 a year, and that’s not enough to live an upper-middle-class life in New York at all. And that’s the Mamdani voter.” nytimes.com/2025/11/07/nyr…
While I think the original chart largely oversells the impact of AI specifically (its more about the post-covid overhiring imo)... This chart from Goldman is interesting bc- looking just at the tech sector - I think the trend holds more weight for now:
You should consider being having both
Long term performance of stocks vs housing, per WSJ:
"Uncertainty is an uncomfortable position. But certainty is an absurd one" - Voltaire This quote often comes to mind while I scroll this website and I get a good lol every damn time.
I love seeing people post the word “top” referencing some impeding market crash. Then searching the word “top” on their profile to see that they posted the same stuff 12 months ago. Ouch.
Friendly PSA: it’s your money and you have complete control over it. If you would call this a “crime” you should definitely just know that you don’t have to buy it. Give builders more rope. Some will fail and that’s a better outcome than what we have now.
This is the new standard of living they expect Americans to accept Here’s a tour of the new completed homes at The Alcove at Tillage Farms, in Princeton, Texas These homes are going for around $156,674 - $163,499 for 661 square feet plus a HOA This is a crime
Curious why the Corporate AMT change from the OBBB tax bill only impacted $META in the way that it did.
Is the early mortgage payoff discourse from the weekend over yet? Wondering if its safe to come back.
99% of people should set it and forget it in long term, diversified, fee-efficient mutual funds and ETFs. 1% of people can probably do a little more. You are not the 1%. And you never will be.
I feel like there is a good amount of overlap amongst the "AI Doomerism" crowd and the "have tons of kids as you can when you're 20" crowd. These views clash, don't they? How does this group reconcile this? (note: AI makes me nervous and am currently trying for first kid)
I struggle with stuff like this. Its not that I think its outright incorrect - I literally have no clue. But calls that are THIS monumental necessarily require a MASSIVE societal paradigm shift. So being right about the below thesis is moot in a vacuum. How do you prep for it?
In a few years, no one will work and everyone will be rich. Here is how much money you will have: Everyone will get UEI payments of about $50,000 per year, but that money will be worth many times more than it is today since prices will drop dramatically. The price of…
This sounds good and all, but the job creators in this country will choose the AI over the human 10 times out of 10 WHEN it’s good enough. I do think that will take quite a while though.
Accenture is cutting 11K jobs for workers who cannot retrain for AI... I've been telling everyone, AI won't replace you, but someone who uses it will. Get learning!
Sometimes I drive around my old neighborhood to just look at properties. This is my fav duplex in highland park.
