It’s still hard to find the words for how amazing tonight was retiring the number of legendary manager Jack McKeon. From the countless phone calls over the past months with him to all of the amazing stories told by him tonight, it was truly once in a lifetime.
The @OMAStormChasers retired Jack McKeon's number tonight, the club's first manager back in 1969. McKeon managed the 2003 World Series champion Marlins. He's a member of the Padres Hall of Fame. But this was a first for the 93-year-old. "I'm so delighted." @WOWT6News

On a personal note, I know I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing today had I not crossed paths with Coach Dietz 41 years ago. He was very patient, encouraging and instructive for a young reporter for @TheDailyAztec school newspaper.
Saddened to hear today of the passing of former @AztecBaseball head coach Jim Dietz, whose 1,230 career wins ranked among top 20 all-time when he retired after 2002 season. There wouldn't be SDSU baseball now without Dietz, who saved program from being cut in late 1980s.
