🚨 Image fees and UK museums - a breakthrough moment. The system is collapsing. There is now no reason to pay fees for historic artworks (2D) in most cases. The UK's art history tax is over. Scholars, the public *and museums* will be better off. A 🧵

I am completely insignificant in academia. I thought that was obvious, but just in case it isn’t, know this, I am absolutely unimportant in every way that really matters.
I think I might rehash this piece: activehistory.ca/blog/2013/03/2… There is a lot of Kool Aid out there (mostly regurgitated by @TheHubCanada series on Who Killed Canadian History), which seemingly deliberately misrepresents #cdnhist & the work of university-based historians.
As a Canadian historian, and a public historian too, I'm tried of reactionary articles whining about so-called woke history like these. Since he harps on about residential schooling and gets much of it wrong, let's set the record straight: financialpost.com/opinion/canada…
