Pope Francis calls for better homilies which he says are often a “disaster” & should be no longer than 8-10 minutes. Full text (vatican.va/content/france…) His remarks echo the synod working document which said “the quality of homilies is almost unanimously reported as a problem”
May the Holy Spirit lead us to welcome the Sacred Scriptures more and more like a lamp that sheds light on the steps of our daily lives. #WordofGod
Re March for Life, wanted to mention that the 2020 census shows that the Af Am population increased while the white American population continues to decrease. Maybe stop targeting and blaming Black women for abortions when Black women have a higher birth rate than white women
Can the loving respect of the laity towards clerics, derive into attitudes of privilege and entitlement in them? How can we help our ordained brothers preserve the mystery of Jesus acting in them and through them without leading them into the temptation of spiritual entitlement?
Let us #PrayTogether for Pope Emeritus Benedict who is supporting the Church in silence. Let us ask the Lord to console him and to sustain him in this witness of love for the Church, until the end.
Today is the Feast of St. Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, a Chichimec peasant to whom Our Lady appeared on four occasions, and from which she is venerated under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Ora pro nobis
Sr. Mary Antona Ebo was the only black Catholic nun to march with Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma after Bloody Sunday, of which she said, “I didn’t want to be a martyr. But it was either put up or shut up.” jesuits.org/stories/heroes…

Today we honor Saint Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, a native Mexican, who was blessed by the Virgin Mary and who served as her emissary to the Franciscan bishop of Mexico City, Juan de Zumárraga. May Juan Diego’s faith inspire us to proclaim the Gospel to all nations and peoples.
"Mary is the new Eve, and while God’s first creation was done with perfect and absolute love, His second creation was done with perfect grace. That is why Gabriel refers to Mary as 'full of grace.'" - @WashArchbishop #homilytweet
On Dec. 9, Roman Catholics celebrate St. Juan Diego, the indigenous Mexican Catholic convert whose encounter with the Virgin Mary began the Church's devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. bit.ly/3FwMVJC
Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas, pray for us. May we be united as brothers and sisters who live in peace with our neighbors and with all nations through the world.
If we are to survive, we must rediscover the insight of First Nations and Indigenous peoples – and of St. Francis of Assisi – that the world beneath our feet is holy.
Congratulations to @brittneygriner, her wife Cherelle Griner, and her family. Amazing work by @POTUS, @VP, @SecBlinken, @StateDept, and everyone in the administration. Let us pray for Paul Whelan and his family until he is home, too. 🙏🕯
On this day (9 Dec) in 1531, St Juan Diego, a recent Aztec convert to Christianity, encountered Our Lady at Tepeyac Hill in Mexico for the first time. Today is his feast day, and he is patron of indigenous peoples and florists. flic.kr/p/2o4Xggd
God is with us, and our anointing is to be shared, as Gift, with the love given us, in His birth. AMDG
