If we care about protecting children from harmful gambling marketing, it is my opinion that this voluntary ban of a tiny part of gambling marketing in sport is NOT a step forward and will NOT protect children from significant exposure to ads It may do more harm than good. A🧵1/

Premier League clubs have today collectively agreed to withdraw gambling sponsorship from the front of clubs’ matchday shirts, becoming the first sports league in the UK to take such a measure voluntarily in order to reduce gambling advertising ➡️ preml.ge/ft7v01

Very sad to hear of the death of Professor Paul Wilkinson. We worked together for several years on Lancet Countdown. He was a great thinker on environmental issues, a kind gentle person, who was an expert on air pollution, urban health and impacts in low income countries.

Shall we have a cycling thread? This week social media has blown up again locally with motorist anger that cyclists are on the road. The complaint was about a place with no cycle path, but it's crystallised into "why aren't they on the cycle path". So, here's why!

‘Ponta de lança africano’ by Jorge Ben Jor reminds me of friends Phil & Jules who move between UK & Brazil & now a song loved by my whole family. &/or ‘Haifa’ by Sona Diabaté & Mmah Syllah - a rare thing - transcendental beautiful song about a football team @BBC6Music #NP6Music
