Annual Cinco de Mayo Lowrider Cruise Shutdown by LAPD Before Sold-Out Dodger Game, Causing Confusion and Frustration Written by @ShotOn35mm lataco.com/lowrider-cruis…
I wrote about this TWO YEARS AGO. It’s been a problem for ages. The number one thing I hear from attorneys is about their long list of incarcerated clients who are deemed “miss outs” in court — partly because of transportation.
Up to ONE THIRD of people in LA County jails can’t get to court because the sheriff's department doesn't have enough functional buses: apnews.com/article/los-an…
If you live in Los Angeles, you’ve probably seen these stanchions strategically placed across the city…but what are they? @marinashutup takes you on a walk down Wilshire Blvd. in Koreatown and shares what she learned about them and her neighborhood’s history. 🎥: @marinashutup
Most unhoused ppl I've interviewed say sanitation cleanups are necessary but the way in which the city conducts them is flawed and cruel. I've seen people lose everything they own because they were working and weren't able to move their stuff before sanitation trashed it.
Unhoused residents living in CD13 were given notice that there would be a "major cleaning" at 6 AM on Feb 23. But the "clean up" didn't start until around 3 PM. An unhoused resident told me sanitation "took everything, even food." They also said that bikes were trashed. @LATACO

That the emergency broadcasts in Santa Barbara are off air because of the storm is telling.
Due to a power outage, NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts from Broadcast Peak in Santa Barbara are currently off the air. This includes land (162.40) and marine (162.475) broadcasts. Warnings that require tone alerts will not be transmitted from those frequencies until power returns.

I am so angry. I am very much in the beginning stages of putting together an LA mutual aid network for journalists who have been laid off. If you want to help, DM me. If you need support, DM me. It's going to take a minute to get this ready, but we see you.
Seeing so many of my favorite LA Times staff who are excellent journalists getting laid off today. What a terrible day.
Starting Jan 1st in California, police can no longer entrap you by asking you if you know why they stopped you. Instead, they have to state the reason why they stopped you before they can ask any other questions.
