I am sure you will have heard farmer's concerns about the harm your Government is doing to the industry with it's taxes and rhetoric. I hope you will discuss them with @RachelReevesMP and the treasury. Farmers grow food for the country's security making little profit, if any.
FAMILY FARM TAX: "The farmers' death tax is shabby, will stoke food price inflation and could seriously undermine this country's ability to feed itself" "Labour's policies are ill-conceived and rushed, with a strong whiff of class prejudice, aimed at thousands of farming…
We have an amazing Hospitality industry in the UK. If you want growth @Keir_Starmer then put us on a level playing field and see what we can achieve then!
Maybe brush up on maths over the summer break @RachelReevesMP I’d start here. Think we’re way off laffer curves.
The Treasury’s family farm tax legislation, which is accompanied by an impact assessment, suggests there will be “no significant macroeconomic impacts” at all. But a report says the reforms will cause over 200,000 job losses and cost nearly £2bn by 2030. express.co.uk/news/politics/…
Great it’s properly raining, that’ll make the wheat grow. 🙄
The economy could lose £14.9bn if the government follows through with #inheritancetax proposals, and more than 200,000 jobs could be lost according to CLA-backed survey from @FamilyBizUK & @CBItweets. But how will your region be affected? Find out here: cla.org.uk/news/the-true-…

Yorkshire to have £1bn wiped from economy due to inheritance tax changes, report says
Yorkshire is set to lose 16,500 jobs and have more than £1bn wiped from its economy due to the Government’s controversial inheritance tax changes, new research has found.
Instead of raising £1.8 billion, the tax raid on farmers and family businesses is expected to cost the Treasury £2 billion! Don’t they consult with business experts or independent economists before they introduce all these new taxes? Sorry, stupid question.
🚜 Newly published research has found that flexible tyres & a rotary harrow can reduce soil compaction & surface runoff. Read more below ⬇️ Dedicated to our dear colleague Dr. Martyn Silgram, co-author & driving force behind this work who passed before he could see it published.

Well that’s dry January buggered. Managed one day more than last year.!! #hadaglassyesterday #bollockstoit
"Rachel Reeves is literally KILLING wildlife!" - I think Reeves, Starmer, and Ed Miliband in particular need to take a good listen to this man at the farmers' protest 👇 @DobbsandPolicy
And this: the soil carbon lost from 12,000 years of agriculture only adds up to about 13 years of recent fossil fuel use in terms of emissions. plantingseedsblog.cdfa.ca.gov/wordpress/?p=1…
You’re so stupid you’d try and drown a fish. Have you got a crystal ball that projects 30 years.
It's sensible financial planning, if you know there's a cost coming in 30 years time, to start saving to pay it now. Similar idea to a mortgage. So £340,000 over £30 years is £11,300/year (without taking into account inflation, which will reduce this cost much further.) 4/7
❌ As further details emerge it seems that Labour’s Family Farm Tax is being designed to hit even harder. 🥀 There is still time for Labour to u-turn on it, and they must, unless they want to leave not only broken promises but a broken farming industry.
🔴 NEW: Rachel Reeves has dealt another blow to farmers by preventing them from sharing their £1m tax relief with spouses or civil partners
As straight as a bull pissing down a dusty track. Shower of rain so harvest dragging into another week. #2024
Nowt i’d rather be doing on Saturday night. Just love peeling flat spring barley off the floor. 🙄 #sacktheagronomist #throughhimtothelions at least the sun was shining
