Just a quick update on efforts to reverse the decision announced yesterday from @Education_NI Minister Peter Weir to close @brollagh.
🏫 ST MARY'S BROLLAGH 🏫 I've spent the last couple of days listening to parents & others about the disappointing decision from Peter Weir. Parents & the community are continuing to fight for their local school & I'll continue to stand with them.

OVER 1,000 responses are expected to be submitted as part of a public consultation on the future of St Mary’s High School, Brollagh – and the deadline for submissions has been extended to August 31....
It’s the same issue in health. If we want rural communities to exist & thrive we need to accommodate this. Re viability the 4-14 model should be explored further as should cross border work. Attitude from the department should be how to make education work in rural communities
Great protest this afternoon at Townhall Enniskillen from the parents action group. Councillors from FODC met with CCMS representatives. Message was loud and clear, POST PRIMARY EDUCATION MUST BE RETAINED IN WEST FERMANAGH!! @rodneyedwards @Ferm_Herald @impartialrep
Our delegation of PAG members and local elected representatives meeting with the Permanent Secretary yesterday.
I was delighted to attend yesterday’s meeting with Derek Baker and representatives of the Brollagh community. Thanks to @jemma_dolan for organising and facilitating. We’ve battled this issue for 15 years, let’s hope common sense prevails.
