Paleontology enthusiast from Virginia. I hunt all over the East Coast of the US. Trilobites are #1! Talk to me about fossils! All fossils posted are mine

Really cool larval Olenellus sp. from the Kinzers formation. Look at the fused eyes! #ontogeny
Neat little enrolled Yunnanocephalus yunnanensis that I managed to prep out without a hitch. From the Guanshan Biota, the younger sister to the famous #ChengiangBiota in the Maotianshan Shales. #trilobite #cambrian
A cool Ogygopsis klotzi and Elrathina cordillerae plate from Nevada. #trilobite #cambrian #burgessshale
A complete, centrally preserved Olenellus thompsoni #trilobite that I need one of my buddies to prep for me so I don’t destroy it.
A partial Olenellus thompsoni(?) from the Kinzers Formation. Heartbreaker.
A weathered Olenellus thompsoni #trilobite from the #cambrian aged Kinzers Formation in PA.
Large 4+ inch partial Wanneria walcottana from the Kinzers.
For #FossilFriday, may I introduce Heterocrania, a member of a weird arthropod group called the Euthycarcinoids. This fine creature is exceptionally preserved in the 411 million year old Rhynie Chert - an early land/freshwater ecosystem preserved by hot spring activity.
New paper on an ammonite with preserved soft tissues, Subplanites sp. from the Late Jurassic of Germany, including what is possibly the first preserved siphon! sjpp.springeropen.com/articles/10.11…

Paleontologists Find Evolutionary Link between Ediacaran and Early Cambrian Multicellular Animals |...
Paleontologists have described the first three-dimensional preservation of soft tissue in Namacalathus hermanastes, a skeletal metazoan (multicellular animal) that lived some 547 million years ago...
Just a reminder of what those Capitol steps looked like during BLM protests. Miss me with the “overwhelmed” and “unprepared” law enforcement. There’s no such thing.
Stunningly prepped Jenkinsonia varga from the Wheeler Formation. Definitely rarer than most ptychopariids found there, and this one sports particularly nice preservation. 😁
Found a piece of a #Cooksonia-like plant in Virginia. Lower #Devonian in age, and look at that detail! You can still see some 3D preservation in the sporangium 🤤 #plantfossil #paleobotany #bryophyte
For #TrilobiteTuesday, here is super spiny Sao hirsuta. The model was created by skilled Martin Šafka (1url.cz/VzOgC) under my supervision. Such reconstructions bring a new input into otherwise poorly understood morphologies of many #Cambrian #Trilobites =(:[[[[}
Been having a pretty rough few weeks but this Furca mauretanica just arrived at my door and I’m in love. This Ordovician Marrellomorph is from the Upper Fezouata Fm in Southern Morocco. You can see a few incredibly preserved legs and the marginal spines are preserved brilliantly.
#Trilobite tracks and some small ocean ripple #fossils found at an awesome roadcut in Virginia. Was fun to hunt whilst not having to be around anyone! #paleontology
This is the ideal metazoan body plan. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like. #icyinverts
#MolluscMonday Striking chevrons of pigmentation preserved in an Early Carboniferous bivalve.
