My theory is kris ate the pie to throw us off. That way we wouldnt be suspicious about what they were up to. It gives us an easy answer to distract us.
Tbh The whole "Kris just ate the pie in ch1 and that's it" is still prevalent despite the fact that them plugging the TV, knowing the prophecy and working for the knight blatantly shows that they were planning the ch3 dark world
