On the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina (8/29), I’m reminded of not only the destruction of my home/community, but also that the experience helped radicalize me. I was 17 at the time. These events below, personally & systemic, shook my perspective & shaped my worldview.

i had my first job thru an APSA pre-interview. so i do know and understand why conferences are important for grad students. but the idea that skipping *one* conf will have devastating effects of your career is simply not true. stop scaring people. also ‘networking’ is overrated
