Last year I changed careers at the age of 42 into tech and have loved every minute of it. This year, I want to keep learning and want to resume some of my side projects and maybe pick up something new. Good luck to those starting their tech journey this year
As I watch the Afghan evacuations, I remember being left behind in Iran in 1979, when everybody I knew fled the country at a time of revolution and war. My twin brother and I were 6 years old. This is the story of what happened after everybody left:
3 years ago I decided to create this account to learn about and meet people involved in tech. 3 years later, I'm working in tech and have met loads of cool people! #MyTwitterAnniversary
Top React Testing Tip: Don't delete setup tests.js if you plan on using jest to test your application
One piece of feedback I got from my technical test was about my (lack of) use of automated testing. So been learning about that and applying it to a project. Also managed to get Covid too 🥵🥶🤯🤬😷🤒🤕🤢🤧
I put off applying for jobs because I didn't think I was ready. My better half kept saying I should let them decide by putting myself out there. Against my judgement, I put myself out there I am now looking forward to my first day working for a great company.
On LinkedIn Recruiter: Hi I have a great opportunity that i think you would be interested in. Shall I send you the details? Me: Hi, great, please send me the details Recruiter: ... That is going to get old real 🤬 quick
Signed up for the @GatsbyJS webinar on headless shopify with Gatsby. Already loved Gatsby with WordPress but I've never done any e-commerce... I set up the starter site and had a play. Reckon I will be setting up a store with this great combo soon!
Just had my 2nd shot of Astrazenica at the old central studios, Nottinghan (where they filmed bullseye). Had a look for any old speedboats that may have been left lying around, but couldn't find any
One day after sorting my LinkedIn profile and already made some contact with recruiters reaching out. May not result in anything (yet) but I'll take that as a small win. Gym now, then fix CV/resume to match the above awesomeness 💪
Just spent my evening smashing my LinkedIn profile to bits. Shout out to @DThompsonDev for the videos on profile creation 🍻 linkedin.com/in/carl-bradbu…
Inspiring stuff. Defo worth a read for anyone learning web development
So, career changers, how long do you get to code each day? Today, after work, being a dad and going to the gym, it is now 10:20pm and I'm going to do some work on my personal site. I'll probably do 2 hours tonight before bed
I reckon I am the furthest into a course (advanced react by @wesbos)without stopping and doing my own thing. Its reassuring to see that I do in fact know a decent amount of stuff, whilst picking up plenty of new stuff Will defo use a lot of this in my next (ba dum tss) project
As a dad my biggest hope is that I am able to help my son find the things he will be passionate about in his life He might not have a choice on learning how to code though. Sorry, son 😆 #DEVCommunity
How long will it take for me to get distracted at work (the day job I do before I go home and code) and open up some tech docs to read?
