Students don’t learn more because we upload documents. Look to solid pedagogy of what is good for learning. Cooperative tasks, actionable feedback, class discussion, relationships with the teacher

So my students and I basically turned #Flipgrid into our own little social media and I love it! @Flipgrid They check in on #SocialHour and I get to see them everyday.

Last night, we brainstormed a schedule together as a family. Half the day is free time but for 4 hours we're doing scheduled, choice-based options. Here's what we came up with. I'm sharing this recognizing that every kid and every family is different.

"I'm training kids to be bored" How do people keep saying this to me for reals? This hidden curriculum leftover idea from the industrial revolution? No, it is NOT our job to teach kids to be bored. ENGAGEMENT improves retention. Are we about learning or preparing paperworkers?
I keep coming back to this passage from #InnovateInsideTheBox. Its a definite but needed mindset shift in education.
