We also show that the majority of the axonemes regress throughout life through a microtubule destabilization process controlled by spastin, a microtubule-severing enzyme, and mitigated by polyglutamylation levels, both in mouse and humans. So exciting!
We showed that choroid plexus cilia are unique and contain both primary and motile features. here an example of a multi ciliated cells
A detailed and very cool exposition of non-canonical ciliagenesis, as well as cilia maturation and aging in the choroid plexus from the @PatriziLab is now out in Developmental Cell.
Glad to share a new story about choroid plexus cilia, in @Dev_Cell. A wonderful collective effort spearheaded by a talented PhD student in our lab, Kim Ho Hoa, in collaboration with Monika Leischner-Brill, @nathspassky and many more great collaborators doi.org/10.1016/j.devc…

Super excited to share a new paper from our lab! Microglia engulf synapses in disease, but which synapses are targeted and whether these are beneficial or detrimental has been unclear. Here we show that microglia engulf synapses to resolve neuronal hyperactivity. Microglia [1/3]

You had me at 'Neuroimmune signaling within and across brain borders', but the location definitely sweetens the deal.
Please RT! Neuroimmune signaling within & across brain borders contribute to neurodegeneration. But what determines certain synapses/cells to be vulnerable? Which cell-cell crosstalks impact synapses? How do we balance the +/- conseq of neuroinflammation? TIME WE GO DEEP ! [1/4]
Wonderful opportunites to do science with a multi-discplinary team, in a great location.
