i build stuff and complain about anything. TS by day, Rustacean by night. socialist. install gentoo.
damn who would have thought lmfao (i got the most italian name and surname ever)
here we go
This is one of the many issues that is causing Omarchy to brick systems. Won't on well managed distros created by people who know what they're doing. I don't want to snarkily say "told you so", I just want people to use reliable distributions that won't make them hate Linux.
the tech field is legit plagued by the cult of personality and most people dont realize that
In your 20’s there will be a plane taking you away from your hornetown. It is very important you get on that plane.
or you could just understand that the point being brought forward is that what you said is not a novelty that only omarchy has every major distros has a GUI interface to install and manage packages, you dont need a terminal its not a critique on your abilities or you as a…
Schooled by countless Linux users on why sudo, the terminal, and package managers are the way. Now I feel ready to continue my 20-year career as a professional programmer.
6 months ago @Sentry acquired our company & since then I've been experimenting a lot with AI I wrote up some of my thoughts on vibe coding & dealing with "AiDHD" josh.ing/blog/aidhd
thats the thing with gentoo, you trade a bit of your time for a rock solid experience the only time i wanted to shoot myself in the foot was when i gotta compile webkit or firefox, but thankfully im equipped with a ryzen 9 5900X never going back to arch or nixos
Been dailying it for for a year now, had it on my 3 machines, now only have it on 2 (3 was too much, ended up chopping my lower end machine i barely used for freebsd and now im gonna put Alpine on it :P) and it genuinely feels like its the only distro i can really call "home"
whats more cult-like, people who are trying to implement a language thats easier to maintain or people who just hate on something cause an influencer said so?
i agree with DHH on one thing, people saying Omarchy users aren’t arch users are a bunch of nerds — but the worst kind of nerds, the ones who literally have no idea what they are talking about
we did it, reddit (?)
Ubuntu's ISO (you know the one OS we have always said its bloated af) is 5.8GB by the way and that comes with a full featured DE just saying
Congratulations to DHH for managing to make a group of Linux users more annoying than arch users
i would unironically buy it
if this happens im gonna shave my head
Finishing Alexandrescu’s Modern C++ Design and realizing you have to write React components at work tomorrow

it's one of the lowest severity security issues in omarchy where I didn't even care much posting about it, just look through the source code this is still here for example: github.com/basecamp/omarc… or the fact that the update script just says "yes" to any package diff in the aur
>tweets a bad tech take >"designer engineer" in bio >gets muted you may not like it, but this is the circle of life on X 2025
Today I had to install Firefox in Arch: - SUPER - Type "term" ENTER in the menu - Type "sudo pacman -S firefox" - See how it installs in like 10 seconds - Press SUPER and launch Firefox Arch gets so many things so right.
Today I had to install Firefox in Omarchy: - SUPER + ALT + SPACE - Type "inst" ENTER in the menu - ENTER to select the first "package" option - Type "fire" and press ENTER to select "firefox" - See how it installs in like 10 seconds - Press SUPER + SPACE and launch Firefox…
