Second language acquisition is inherently inefficient, and requires deep knowledge, so I must be intentional about teaching that efficient tech tools (like Google translate) can actually impede the messy process of learning Spanish. #ed109
I think it relates to how social media in particular prime us for "instant gratification." It's the addiction that Cal Newport refers to-- we can't stop looking, in search for another notification.
At home with a 2-year-old, my smartphone feels more insidious. I need to capture photos rather than simply experience moments; I need a podcast in the background; I have a hard time not picking it up. I can't help but consider the effects on her. #ed109 #NOT
