Fall harvest in my community garden is just about done. I enIded up with around 15 happy ears of multicolored grinding corn from 20 stalks; a few small and mid-sized pumpkins; and the red okra (late bloomers this year) and tomatoes keep yielding. #gardening #okra #corn

Gaining space with your pawns is only useful insofar as it helps the activity of your pieces. Be wary of gaining space with your pawns if this improves your opponent's pieces. Strike a balance: Judge whether pawn advances enhance the activity of your pieces vs. your opponent's.

I love it when my students say, "I'm fine in this position!" These are the moments to challenge them. Self-reassurance will do no good. What matters is that they decode what is at stake; to develop sensitivity to the delicate imbalances, the gray areas, and plan accordingly.
