First bit of writing I've done in some time. 5 thoughts from Sligo Rovers' important win over Waterford last night: facebook.com/groups/sligoro…

Shades of Spurs at Ajax. Incredible.

I will never be able to wrap my head around leaf-blowing culture. It is maddening. Let's noise and air pollute for what purpose? Let nature do its thing. I will confess to borrowing a few leaves via rake for bedding into the garden and compost. Nothing more.

Well-taken goal from O'Kane. Drogs had all the momentum after their substitution changed things. However, no less than deserved for Rovers after they controlled the first 30'; Elding should have had a goal, plus the two penalty shouts - Hakiki's more convincing of the two.

Hopefully more stories like this trickle out. Great insight into a unique man.

Ollie Horgan’s passing prompted a wave of sadness throughout the League of Ireland. Johnny Dunleavy, one of his former players, recalls what made him so special buff.ly/Ao0r44y

Stat Id like to see for Owen is ground covered per match. His application behind the ball perhaps the best of any attacking player that is anywhere as lethal as him. His 15 tackles won and 54 aerial duals won an indicator of this.

What a performance in Dublin. On to the next round. #bitored

Sligo Rovers last away win over a Premier Division team in the FAI Cup was the 2011 semi-final against Bohs.

I was picking and eating blackberries at Turners Cross during halftime. How many other professional sporting venues can feature such a treat? More evidence the LOI is the #GreatestLeagueInTheWorld

Oh what a night. #bitored 🔴⚪️❤️

I believe the last time that Sligo Rovers trailed by 2+ goals in a LOI match and still managed to win was 23 Sept 2006 against St Pats. The last time they did it away was 8 November 1981, also against Pats. Rovers won 2-3 after a youngster named Paul McGrath had put Pats 2-0 up.

Quite the first match. Only thing that could have really topped that was Lomboto burying his chance. I am sure Ill be back... the drive from west Dingle for Derry may be asking too much though 😅 #bitored

Feel bad for big John. Wasnt a red let alone a multi-game suspension. Ridiculous stuff. There has to be something in the refs' official match report or some other camera angle that were not seeing. Really feels like bait the whole time from Dyer especially with him gone now

Both red cards from the Connacht derby gone up from a one-game ban last week to a three-week ban this week

Forget 60 grand. We will accept 6 million for Owen and no less. 😤

New League of Ireland star finalising Irish eligibility as star continues to rise. Sligo Rovers boss John Russell also confirms numerous clubs are interested in 19-year-old Owen Elding (and there is no release clause in the contract that runs to 2027). the42.ie/owen-elding-sl…

Oh what have I done. Crewe Alexandra have surely seen this tweet and activated Reece's release cause. Gutted about this. It's not quite a Morahan feeling but the stomach dropped when I read the news. 😩

That match had just about everything. Reece Hutchinson hasn't always been the most sound defender, but has prevented at least 2 sure goals over the past 2 matches. He covers so much ground. Look at that contribution tonight. Huge tick up in his defending lately. Gives his all.

Redemption arcs, red cards, game-saving tackles - Sligo Rovers - Galway had it all I try to do it justice with 5 Thoughts: facebook.com/groups/sligoro… #Bitored | #Since1928

Mad game in the Showgrounds before and after the double red card and it's more redemption for a Sligo Rovers player: Francely Lomboto off the post twice prior to the back-heel goal. Connacht Derby doesnt exist to some. But this is some solid proof it is alive and well.
