I am old enough to hope that China will change its foreign policy to follow the USA. Hopefully, Trump's offer to form a G2 can be considered by Xi. 🙂
China’s property market downturn will persist, and its transition to a new model will not be completed in the short term, requiring expansionary fiscal policy and structural reforms, former Finance Minister Lou Jiwei said at the Caixin Summit. caixinglobal.com/2025-11-14/cai…

“Small and medium businesses lose 30-35 cents on the dollar [for SRED] because of red tape… we went to Shopify and said, “Can you help us redesign this process?” Somewhat embarrassingly they came back in 48 hours and said here it is.” And here it is💥 buildcanada.com/memos/fix-sred

When people are suffering because the cost of living is too high, and you (as a policymaker) intend to spend public money to fix this, there are two main routes: - subsidize demand, or - subsidize supply Subsidizing demand is "give people money to pay for the expensive thing."…

$TE T1 Energy Energy is the new currency. AI deals are now measured in GWs. Without power, the AI revolution stalls. Data centers are being booted from cities due to energy concerns. Nat gas buildouts? 3-5 years out. Nuclear? A decade away. But data centers are building NOW.…

The Trump admin seems to be moving toward accepting China as it is. Whether deliberate strategy or stumbling into the right answer almost doesn't matter if the result is sound policy. I don’t agree with a lot of what China does but fantasy-based policy produces bad outcomes.
The through-line from Overholt's analysis to the RAND stabilization framework is consistent. American policy based on transforming China has failed, often made things worse, and needs to be replaced with something grounded in accepting China as it is. rand.org/pubs/research_…

The biggest change in China strategy under Trump is dropping the “engagement leads to liberalization" theory. The RFA/VOA/NED were Cold War relics that were counterproductive. Better to engage with China as it is and then focus on regional interests and partners accordingly.

Good statement by @PeteHegseth and another example of how the Trump administration is pursuing a much more sound and pragmatic approach to China than the Biden administration.
I just spoke to President Trump, and we agree — the relationship between the United States and China has never been better. Following President Trump’s historic meeting with Chairman Xi in South Korea, I had an equally positive meeting with my counterpart, China’s Minister of…

Quarterly results of China's and the world's largest oil refiner Sinopec: China's consumption of transport fuels (gasoline, diesel and kerosene) fell 4% year-on-year in Jan-Sep, due to the impact of "alternative energy" i.e. EVs, speeding up from 3.6% drop in H1.
How will USA compete with China in robotics? @stash_pomichter and his team have a huge answer. Rip out their OS and put an American-made OS into the Chinese robots. Let's be honest. America is not going to catch up to Chinese robotics companies. The Chinese ecosystem is far…
For a trans-Pacific power cable from North America to Asia, you'd likely need between 10,000-20,000km of cable, depending on the specific route 5-10x longer than Morocco-UK at 3,800km. HVDC power transmission over such distances obviously faces enormous technical challenges.
If this is successful, it will feature twin 1.8 GW HVDC subsea cables spanning 3,800 km, more than quadruple the Viking Link's length. spectrum.ieee.org/underwater-pow…
