An estimated 6000 Canadian children have IBD- the 2 main forms being #crohns and #colitis. Please join me in my journey to inform educators and help students cope.

Good luck to all @TVDSB students with their assessments. Remember to build in breaks and eat healthy. Trust your preparation and you will have success. And to all graduates, best of luck in your future endeavours.

Thank you kindly to @LHSCCanada for all their care. I can’t say enough about the quality of care I’ve received at Children’s Hospital over the last 5 years. Today I ‘graduated’ to adult care and thank them immensely for this smooth transition.

Do you know a #postsecondary #student with #IBD? If you want to help, tell them about our @abbviecanada IBD #Scholarship: ibdscholarship.ca.

Fantastic day of sunshine and surprisingly warm weather. Take advantage of some vitamin D- always good for someone with #IBD.

Good luck to all students entering exams this week. Remember to plan for some mental breaks- take a walk, read a book, reach out to a friend in need. @TVDSB #IBD

Happy New Year and a safe return to all students in 2023. To all students with #IBD make this year a special year- strive for mental well-being and physical improvement. You got this.

Happy first day of class. To all my friends who live with #IBD please remember that there is support and always advocate for yourself.

To all students I encourage you to always get involved. Plan to join that club, plan to tryout for that sport, or plan to volunteer with that in school charity. Sometimes all plans and opportunities won’t always work out, but you must try. @TVDSB

Thank you to all those that have followed me in my quest to bring light to #IBD for students. I could use more @TVDSB support.🙏 @DirFisherTVDSB @AliChahbar @RileyCulhane @buildershe @ChristineGiann @tlangelaan @sheilapowell18 @MarionMoynihan @SkinnerPurveen @PaulSydor

Although different for every student with #IBD- stress does increase the chance of “flare ups”. This is often timed with start of school/ new classes and major assessments such as exams. Please like/retweet as we start a new semester 🙏 . #crohns @TVDSB @CrohnsColitisFn

Symptoms and severity of #crohns varies from student to student. Some weeks are better then others, and with proper medical and personal care the weeks can progress into better months. Don’t be discouraged. @TVDSB @CrohnsColitisFn

Parents are encouraged to speak to educators about their child’s IBD condition. Cultural food days, lunch events, birthday celebrations, etc include foods that are triggers for IBD flare ups. Educators can focus on the celebration and not so much the food.@TVDSB @TVDSBcares

Educators please remember that a student who asks to “often” use the restroom, can often not wait for recess or lunch. If they are suffering from IBD, “flare ups” trigger urgent/frequent washroom visits. #crohns #colitis
