My AP research project is done! I can definitely say Iāve learned a lot throughout this entire process.
Iāve started gathering data from mini interviews with teachers and students from the lack of numbers I got from the survey.
This graph displays the grade level that each teacher respondent majorly teaches. I hope to use this to identify trends with stereotypes. Like would a 9th grade teacher be less likely to bond with their students compared to an 12th grade teacher.
This graph displays the subject that each teacher respondent majorly teaches. I hope to use this to identify trends with stereotypes. Like would a History teacher be less likely to bond with their students compared to an English teacher.
A teacher that took my survey claimed, āI have students that check in with me everyday even if I donāt teach them.ā .. in response to the question asking how a relationship has been built with their student(s).
An interesting response a student said on my survey: āThey don't sugarcoat anything, which is very much appreciated when you're a teenager and everyone is telling you what they think you want to hear.ā Question: Why do you feel like youāve built a relationship with your teacher?
A studentās response on my survey says, āThey have created an open space for me to express myself and for there to be some kind if fun in the classroomā¦ā Question: āIf you have built a relationship with a teacher this year, what has that teacher done to make you feel that way?
A teacherās response on my survery says, āSome students have a hard exterior you have to break through to build the relationship. It takes timeā¦ā *** The question was āIf you have NOT built a relationship with a student this year, why is that?ā
One student on my survey said there are teachers that come off as āpassive aggressiveā and didnāt make them feel comfortable talking. (In reference to the question asking why they havenāt built a relationship with a teacher this year)
With my survey being out for one complete school day, thereās a majority of students that HAVE built a relationship with a teacher this school year.
Did you know ⦠āWhen teachers make an intentional effort to get to know each of their students, it can foster in students a sense of belonging and connection to schoolāwhich can then build a foundation for academic success.ā educationnorthwest.org/insights/positā¦

Positive and Caring Relationships with Teachers are Critical to Student Success
How can teachers reach all their studentsāincluding students from cultural backgrounds different from their own?
āThe influence of teachers extends beyond the classroom, well into the future. It is they who shape and enrich the minds of the young, who touch their hearts and souls. It is they who shape a nationās future.ā - F. Sionil Jose

Iām hoping that the results of this research will not only expose some kind of trend within these classrooms, but also what the culture of this school consists of (whether thatās good or bad).
āItās the teacher that makes the difference, not the classroom.ā -Michael Morpurgo
A generational gap is the differences and attitudes between one generation and another. It is one of the reasons why older generations and younger ones donāt see eye to eye, and also why some teachers and their students donāt get along.
āBoth students and teachers get affected by the classroom environment.ā A fact that tends to get left out of these kinds of topics. #classrelations digitalclassworld.com/blog/importantā¦
