Justin Trudeau says that if we don't grant him Emergency powers, we're standing with people who wave swastikas. Well, I stand with the swastika-wavers -- because the only true test of our commitment to constitutional rights is whether we grant them to those whom we detest.
How is this Emergency being addressed? You can now be incarcerated for five years for the crime of *giving food to illegal protesters*. Assets of protesters have been ordered frozen -- meaning that they can't even hire lawyers to bring a constitutional challenge to court.
Canadians are being told that there is a National Emergency; fair enough, maybe CSIS has uncovered threats which aren't public knowledge. But in Churchillian fashion, the Prime Minister won't let a crisis go to waste: He is including peaceful protestors as part of the Emergency.
People waving swastikas: Not a National Emergency. Annoying protesters parking trucks illegally: Not a National Emergency. The use of violence that seriously threatens to overturn the constitutional system of government: National Emergency. So far, no evidence of the last.
Good vaccines are a product which the public freely choose to purchase without coercion. Once vaccines become a government mandate forced onto people via threat of poverty, discrimination, and the indefinite suspension of rights - you know the product has to be pretty shit.
