Being late diagnosed is a torrent of working through past experiences when awake and asleep, processing a heap of bad experiences which were made worse or caused by other people. It's difficult not to feel angry sometimes.

As somebody who experiences positive benefits from walking in natural environments, this has been an interesting read. The Autistic Experience of Exercising within Nature-Based Environments: An Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis paahjournal.com/articles/10.53…

Have just read this article about a new personality type HSP - Highly Sensitive Person - it all sounds like undiagnosed Autism to me. #ActuallyAutistic theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2…

A question for #sciencetwitter about Silica Water. It's being claimed that it can remove aluminum from the body. Is there any actual proof for this?

I relate to this so much.

This post is unavailable.

#MyAutisticTruth People can be horribly intolerant of 'difference', excluding and isolating any one who does not fit in.

This thread describes exactly how my late diagnosis came about. Now I've got it, I am getting away from stressful situations and people - it feels good.

So … there is an effect that is ACTUALLY known to be part of Autism … and it’s another great aspect of the “hatching” Analogy … One of the Autism Spectrum “knobs” is basically “how much Allistic norms can you handle before you BREAK”

Started watching #ExtraordinaryAttorneyWoo today on Netflix, about an autistic Attorney. Is it worth sticking with? Please no spoilers, have only seen 1st episode.

Money money money.

It's been 1 year and a day since my formal autism diagnosis at age 57. What have I learned? There's a lifetime of situations and interactions with other people to unpick; there is very little support and help to find a way through it.

Here's a couple from UK - Newcastle upon Tyne and Wymondham in Norfolk.

2:05 onwards. Asked if postponed appointments would mean people dying, who would not have died if their appointments had not been postponed, Javid said: “What will lead to real harm is if we don’t do this.” Please remind me why Tory party keep getting elected.

"This is the new national mission" Health Secretary Sajid Javid says these are not easy decisions. Elective surgery for things like knee or hip operations will be postponed but urgent care for cancer will be unaffected bbc.in/3GDPbMR #R4Today

If neurotypicals are so accomplished with regard to empathy how come we live in a world blighted by the unempathic spectres of war, famine, malnutrition, violence, abuse, racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, planet destruction? #bollocksaboutautism

Fixed it for you: If you can go to normal school and more or less keep up, but are isolated, find it difficult to make and maintain friendships, struggle to understand yourself and others, and are constantly worn out by trying to fit in, then you are probably autistic.

Autism is severe intellectual disability. If you can go to normal school and more or less can keep up, then you don't have autism.

This thread discusses research by a Political Scientist, about authoritarian control of children. It's an interesting and relevant read for Autistic people and their carers.

The link between childhood & authoritarianism. A THREAD - because there is more & more talk about the rise in authoritarianism in British culture & I think it is important to recognise the links with parenting styles.

This is so on the mark. Reading about other Austistic people's experiences has helped me to feel less alone and to begin to unravel a lifetime of not fitting in.

And I’m not being dramatic when I say that the Twitter #Autistic community was a tremendous help in networking with others to hear more detailed experiences that I could relate to in every aspect. Google couldn’t give me that. THEY did. 11/
