Big fan of budget capped commander. Does a good job of addressing “how strong should my deck be” while letting you try to win without getting cedh power levels. Also has some Canadian Highlander/optimizing equipment for an RPG character feel. Plus it’s definitionally cheap.

If I brew an #edh deck with the casual meta in mind (I'm going to run more flexible board wipes because I want to hit multiple nonland permanents, I will play more tutors because few people run targeted discard, etc) does that make me "not casual"?

Built a Temur #EDH deck whose main goal is to cast Genesis Storm with two copies and get the only 3 nonland permanents in my 99. I have a bunch of Regrowth style cards to trigger Sentinel Tower from there. Was able to build it for about~$100, excluding the price of the commanders

Yeah, I sometimes feel like I can't play control in EDH anymore. And the concept of gaining card advantage by using one card to deal with multiple threats, which is fundamental to the game of Magic, seems so alien to some people.
When did we start acting like wrath effects are bad in Commander, or only ok if they preceed a combo kill? Minimum, every deck should play 2 wraths and reset the board when others are wildly ahead.
