The maternal death rate for Black women decreased in 2021-23 to 28.21 per 100,000 maternities. Black women were twice as likely to die when compared with White women #mbrrace
Blood clots continued to be the leading cause of maternal death in the UK during pregnancy or up to six weeks after the end of pregnancy. The leading causes of death between six weeks and one year after pregnancy were mental health-related #mbrrace
