In Oncampus Placement does 9 cgpa guys get more preference than 8 cgpa guy if both are shortlisted to give interviews ( 7 cgpa criteria) .I heard that in HR round or later rounds too they give more preference to higher cgpa person .Is this true ?
Cgpa is important, 8+ is safe . Below 7 is really bad for placement.
I will maintain 8 but can't make 9 so worried that will 9 cgpa guy get more preference than me
I don’t think so. Apart from the cutoff mentioned, cgpa might be considered to shortlist candidates for test round if the number of applications is high. After that, it doesn’t matter.
No Cracking Interviews are literally based on your performance. Cgpa matters to qualify and get shortlisted. But in some rare cases, Where the company wants few students and all students performed well, then they may consider CGPA. Overall answer is NO
When I was selected for the next rounds then my friends who were having CGPA more than 9.2 got rejected because they didn't have projects or programming skills up to the requirements of the company.
If there is a tie between two candidates then CGPA is the preference.
9 cgpa has better preference than 8 cgpa, mostly in the first shortlisting round, where OA has to be done for the screening. Later on, after OA round, very rarely they reject someone on the basis of cgpa.
Getting CGPA is not that hard if you know how to game the system. If you cannot get a good CGPA that shows something about a person's smartness.
Cgpa is only used for cut-off, after getting OA CGPA won't matter anymore unless you are applying for HFTs
I think they do filter out some students based on cgpa even after coding round when the competition (and number of students) are very high. *this is for oncampus*
At present market standard if your college gets good sets of companies cgpa might not be the only case. But if it's the polar opposite cgpa might be just the point of biased selection. -My pov keep it 7.5-8
So a 7 cgpa person from an iit or nit, and a 9 cgpa person from a teir 1 or 2, what you think, whom will get the job? This is what i have been taught since my childhood. They say,'Nothing beyond a government college for cs, at least.'

No If both have same skill set theyll obviously prefer the higher cgpa one Otherwise the only thing that matters is your skills

If both of your skills are atpar then it will matter otherwise it won't.
There are very few companies who do this. But i’ll not say it doesn’t matter. There will be OA’s in which questions will be too easy which everyone will be able to solve. So company looks on other criterias which is mainly cgpa.
No...... Cgpa is only considered for cut off clearance...... It is advised to maintain 8.5 cgpa,as some of the companies ask for it, other than that, with 7.5 cgpa u r eligible for most of the companies
It is obvious If they have to select one of the 2 at the end after clearing all interviews, it will be one with higher cg
unless both the guys qualify the final round and company has strict restrictions on number of people to select, NO , it doesnt matter 8 or 9.Project and DSA makes the difference.
They do come in play. Not only on campus but off campus too.

I don't think so,it's only the criteria for getting into the next rounds of the interview process until. For the next rounds.then what actually makes a difference is your coding skills, internships, projects and communication skills.
Not only that. They check during lateral hiring as well. Maintain high gpa even if you are from iit
6,7,8,9 these cpgas may seem linear but effort to get them are in exponential scale
