Interesting, what the servers do? Do they trace or measure latency towards large number of end points? How do they figure out location in case when ICMP is not responding?
Yep, ping and trace. We try to get an rtt in various other ways when icmp doesn’t respond. The probe network data is just one of many inputs into our final geolocation data set - and it’s the input into many other data sets we have too.
