📍Exactly a week ago, we came together for the 𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥. And yes, Computer and Biomedical Engineering does have its fair share of beautiful ladies and handsome gentlemen. Here are some highlights from the night. #TWEEK2025

📍Ghana’s AI Couple Last week we shared a story of 4 KNUST lecturers ranked among the top AI/ML researchers in Ghana by citations. It turns out, 2 of the 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 are not just colleagues, but a couple, @hnmensah and @FranciscaA7072. Full story coming soon.
📍𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐏𝐡𝐃𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐠! @M_Cobbinah, @amin95625, and @AlbertKDede, all PhD students in Computer Engineering, have successfully defended their theses. The department is proud, and the future of research looks even brighter.
💃"Engineers on the dance floor? Yes, please!" Lecture halls by day, slow jams by night. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 have got moves outside the books too. Arcanum was a night of music and memories, because life isn't only about classes.
📍Past @AcesKnust executives paid a visit to their Patron, @hnmensah, with a citation in hand. A thank you for his steady support through the 2024/2025 administration.
📍When it comes to 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐚, the numbers don’t lie. Ing. Dr. @hnmensah, from our Dept. now ranks 𝐍𝐨. 𝟏 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 for citations in this field.

🎖️𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐒 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 – 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 At this year’s Arcanium Dinner, we celebrated the students who made ACES proud. Well done, engineers. The bar has been set.
📍@fece0knust wrapped the semester in style at 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓. Each department held its own handing-over and awards ceremony, passing the baton, celebrating wins, and welcoming fresh energy for the year ahead.
🍽️𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐣𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐟. Lecturer, Dr. Prince Ebenezer Adjei took his project supervisees and TAs out for dinner. The students flipped the script and surprised him with a wrist watch and a framed picture to thank him for his guidance.
📍𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 ACES Week 2025 had its own version of the Champions League. Four classes entered, but 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟐 class showed they can dribble… and took the trophy home.
♟️ + 💸+ 🎲 = Engineers? Yes, actually. We played these games during CodeFest. Chess trains our logic. Monopoly trains our strategy. Ludo teaches timing. These skills build the same problem-solving mindset we use to code, design, and engineer solutions.
🏓Prof. @ekakowuah enter table tennis court at Heidelberg Hub. Despite ein “too known,” Heidelberg still score am. Dem say table tennis be ein fav sport, some bird sef talk say he fit play ball too we no fit confirm. Meeting end with talk on partnerships + talent pipeline.
📍Picnic blankets, games, inside jokes, food and plenty of photos. A simple way for 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 to say goodbye to years of late nights, lab work, and group projects.
📍Final year Biomedical Engineering students had a picnic to enjoy good food, laughter, and their last moments together. The highlight was the cake, white, decorated in gold with 𝐵𝑖𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝐸𝑛𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 2025 written on it.
📍𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 Literacy is not only words on paper. It is also knowing how to use digital tools, systems, and data. At Computer Engineering, KNUST, we build both.
📍𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠! Our Senior Lecturers, Dr. @ETTchao and Prof. Benjamin Kommey have both been promoted to Associate Professors. We celebrate this milestone with them, a win for the Dept.
📍On this 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲, we look back at a moment of giving. Earlier this year, Biomedical Engineering students visited the Nsawam Orthopedic Center to make donations in support of patients and staff. Service goes beyond the classroom.
