Testing GPU decompression again, on both a high-end and low-end system. On the 5090, performance no longer suffers with GPU decompression, but what about on a lower end machine with a 4060? youtube.com/watch?v=9GBCVm…

Interesting comment from one of the RTX neural texture compression devs on my video. He talks about how NTC might be implemented in games (although the implementation will ultimately be up to game devs)
Testing Neural Texture Compression with a heavier scene w/ larger assets. "On sample" takes too much perf with a more realistic workload, even on the 5090. "On load" seems more viable, but provides no VRAM saving vs BCn. youtube.com/watch?v=odPBXF…

Testing RTX Neural Texture Compression again after several updates to the NTC SDK. This time on both the 5090 and the 8GB 4060 laptop GPU, where the tech could be most beneficial. The performance overhead is minimal on the 5090, but what about the 4060? youtube.com/watch?v=TkBEry…

A couple of examples from the video below (zoomed in for emphasis.) It's insane how much detail YouTube's compression kills if you don't give it obscenely high bitrate to work with.
Can you brute force your way to better image quality on YouTube in spite of YT's heavy compression? I tested a super high bitrate capture & upload vs a more typical creator workflow in several games. I recommend watching in 4K on a large enough display. youtube.com/watch?v=JnOlXP…

A much better solution would be to make your shader pre-compilation step actually work by catching most/all shaders. Having a ton of stutters on your first playthrough ruins the experience and makes you reluctant to continue the game.
We've received reports that some players are experiencing reduced stability after downloading today's update. Stuttering issues should resolve over time as the shaders continue to compile in the background while playing. If you're still experiencing issues after 15 minutes of…
Retail release of AgilitySDK 1.618 supports Advanced Shader Delivery, which aims to eliminate long load times or stutters related to shader compilation. First available on Xbox Ally and Xbox app, but coming to PC and other storefronts in the future. devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/agilit…
