Who do we pressure to make it happen?
The Roosevelt Boulevard Subway is on the verge of becoming a reality. Let's unite as a region and make it happen! 🚇
Modern view of transportation safety.
The big lie of architectural education Last week I had the opportunity to visit a bucket list place of mine, @LasCatalinas in Costa Rica. This new community was conceived of by @charlesbrew and dates only to 2006 for the property acquisition. So in less than 20 years, his team…
When scenes like this are no longer normal, go ahead and work on safety campaigns focused on pedestrians. But for the foreseeable future, it's driving culture that needs change, not walking culture.
They appreciated it ❤️
Tonight we protested the city’s complete mismanagement of Valencia Street. While cars were loading in the bike lane, we paused car traffic to create a safe route for bikes.
Hold tight folks, we’ll be just a minute!

Reason #2 to never buy anything GM makes.
Half of America's car trips are under 3 miles. Of course car companies love that most Americans have to hop in a car for everything. Of course they want customers dependent on the automobile. GM has always been lobbying for more roads. Here's a clip from 70 years ago:
Traffic safety is not an enforcement issue. Drivers will do whatever they can get away with. If the design of the road allows or even encourages dangerous driving, that's what drivers will do. This intersection needs to be redesigned, not to mention how bad the whole road is.
Someone died because a driver took an illegal left. Even the totaled car and an angrily pointing police officer can't deter further drivers from taking the same left. It's hard to imagine a more clear demonstration that @PennDOTNews's engineering of Kelly Drive is faulty.
Politicians in cities across the country want e-bikes and e-scooters banned or severely restricted. Because of perceived danger. Those same politicians dgaf that 100 people a day slam their cars into storefronts.
"You can't carry furniture by bicycle" Part 94 TWO sofas carried from IKEA by cargo bike hired there in Groningen photographed by @AsEasyAsRiding . Could they go in a "normal" car?
Most people aren't willing to think much about the hierarchy of safety controls. Instead, "just wear a helmet" is the impulse. It's an easy retort. But bike helmet manufacturers will tell you their product won't protect you from Motordom. 👇 forbes.com/sites/carltonr…
Who knew the simple act of riding bikes to school could be so meaningful?? #BikeBus
I drive a #wankpanzer because it tells other people about my outdoor lifestyle
Look at all the storefronts that cars haven't plowed through! The horror! Incomprehensible!

Oversized SUVs and trucks worsen a slew of societal problems, including crash deaths, climate change, and tire pollution. But rather than restrain car bloat, federal policy has actively encouraged it. In @voxdotcom I explained how. 🧵 vox.com/future-perfect…
There's an NTSB report every time something involving a plane or train doesn't go to plan; why isn't there a report for every car crash and traffic death?
If Philadelphia truly was serious about its goal of "Vision Zero" every traffic death would require an immediate public report on what went wrong and what changes the city could have taken to prevent it.
You may not like it but this is what peak transit advocacy looks like

Ayo @5thSq , who should people know about?
We're creating a list of local urbanist & YIMBY advocacy groups so that people can look up their city and know who to get involved with. We've created a form to submit your local groups to the list! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…
