Predominantly Black and brown low-income Texans are freezing and going hungry, and Governor Greg Abbott is more concerned about stoking nonsensical culture war grievances about the Green New Deal than helping people survive a mess he's responsible for. A disgrace.
While Texans freeze, Governor Abbott is spouting lies on Fox News about the Green New Deal — which hasn't even been implemented yet. Here's the truth: Texas' energy infrastructure isn't prepared for climate change. The goal of the Green New Deal is to make sure we are prepared.

Just confirmed @SenTedCruz and his family flew to Cancun tonight for a few days at a resort they've visited before. Cruz seems to believe there isn't much for him to do in Texas for the millions of fellow Texans who remain without electricity/water and are literally freezing.
This once in a hundred year Texas cold spell is pretty nuts eh? Almost like the climate is changing or something.
Reminder: the Green New Deal is not radical (and it's not to blame for Texas' frozen power grid, either). What's radical is doing nothing to mitigate the climate crisis.

Unlike 58 House Republicans in 2019, I will vote for disaster aid for any state or territory that needs it. If Texas needs supplemental federal disaster aid, I will vote yes. Because we are all Americans.

Texas deregulated its power grid, failed to winterize its equipment, and has so far blamed ERCOT, Democrats, the Green New Deal, California and New York for his own failure to keep Texans safe.
