If Polygon can pull this off, #Ethereum zk-rollups take a huge leap forward

1/ Today a proposal was published to upgrade Polygon PoS to a zkEVM validium, a first-of-its-kind, decentralized ZK Layer 2. As a zkEVM validium, Polygon PoS would inherit Ethereum's unmatched security, while preserving low fees & high scalability. 👉🏽 go.polygon.technology/44dysMh

1/ A Zero-Knowledge-Powered Layer 1 smart contract blockchain will launch this year. This ZK-native smart contract platform will provide both scalability and privacy, unlocking the true value of web3.

2/ zk-Rollups will remain centralized. All rollups live on Ethereum rely on a centralized party known as a sequencer to order transactions. Sequencers learn all information about your transactions and can profit from MEV at your expense.

Incredibly impressed with the latest results we've obtained in GCP @googlecloud. Using a c3-standard-176 instance, we took less than 110s to generate a batch proof, and since its spot price is $0.89 -> a 500 regular txs batch proof costs 🥁 .... 0.0259$!! 🥳🚀 @0xPolygon #zkEVM

Just tested @0xPolygon #zkEVM zkProver latest version on @googlecloud and the results are much better than we expected!! N2d-standard-224 0.045$/proof N2d-standard-128 0.042$/proof ($0.000084/tx) Moreover, we kept our promises and we managed to proof batches under 2 minutes! 💪🚀

For scaling context, at $0.000052/tx you could prove every post, comment, follow, mirror and collect on @LensProtocol for under $1300... and we are just getting started 🫡

Last year @CryptoRelief_ led by @sandeepnailwal allocated $100m to Covid research projects I wanted to fund Sandeep and I discussed and jointly concluded these and other projects are high-impact and need follow through grants. Hence we decided to put $100m more to these projects

In AIR and PLONKish programming, we often find that wide arithmetizations work best. While vanilla PLONK uses 3 witness polynomials, Plonky2 uses 135 by default. We did that for a few reasons.

Really excited about our results on the @0xPolygon zkEVM Prover! Batchproof 2:30 (2min soon) ~500 or ~250 ERC20 tx/batch🚀On a spot m6id.metal prover's cost: $0.064/proof ($0.0001/tx) The fastest ZK tech and the first production-ready zkEVM💪The prover is no longer a bottleneck🍾

Any language could compile down to the Aztec IR and benefit from the ecosystem built on top of it. The backend (i.e. the proof system) can be Aztec's PLONK, Arkworks, or anything else really. Halo2? Starky? IPA/FRI instead of KZG10? BLS12-381 vs BN254? Supported!
