Either UCP MLAs were unaware of class size issues & increasing complexities, which makes them all incompetent. Or they were aware & chose to not address concerns. Both can be true. Either way - UCP MLAs since 2019 have failed students & educators #TotalRecall
You’ve heard it: 👉 “Trust the science.” But real science doesn’t ask for trust. Science doesn’t demand belief. It demands evidence. What does ask for blind trust? → Pseudoscience → Conspiracies → Marketing dressed up as “truth” Science is the opposite of faith. It invites…
UCP's Fiscal Management Direct Losses (due to their own policy incompetence): - Keystone XL incurred loss: $1.3bn - Grassy Mountain Settlements: $240m (so far) - MHCare Tylenol: $70mn - Rail Contract Cancellations: $1.3bn - Dynalife+Superlab Reversal: $121m = $3.03bn over 5 yrs
Today, I submitted 456,365 Albertans’ signatures to Elections Alberta, petitioning the Premier to do the right thing, avoid a divisive and economically harmful referendum, and allow MLAs to vote and reaffirm that Alberta’s future is in Canada.🇨🇦 Alberta is #ForeverCanadian
If Danielle Smith uses the Notwithstanding Clause against striking Alberta teachers, she’ll be behaving like a Queen, not a Premier. Watch our explainer video on how the use of the clause would be a threat to our democracy AND our wages and standard of living (link below).
Do your job. @ABDanielleSmith @demetriosnAB
"If teachers want smaller class sizes, then they should take a pay cut." I've seen this comment a few times on different threads regarding the ongoing teacher's strike in this province. So I thought I'd add a wrinkle to that argument. Yay! It’s another #ABleg 🧵!
Forcing teachers back to school without addressing any of their concerns is the biggest abuse of democratic rights in Alberta’s history. Alberta’s New Democrats stand with teachers and unequivocally condemn this attack on public education, on workers and their unions, and…
How about them potatoes, @ABDanielleSmith ?
Or like 1/4 of a bottle of Turkish Tylenol per student per day if you want it converted into units Dani is familiar with.
Doesn’t sound so unreasonable after all does it? Is this really shooting for the moon? #abpoli #abed #ableg #ucpunfittolead
David Rink: I'm an Alberta teacher. I'm on strike to save our schools, not line my pockets calgaryherald.com/opinion/im-an-…
It is impossible to win against stupid.
I live in a province where my government fights harder for a pipeline than for the people and I am tired of it. #ableg #abpoli #ab #yeg
I mean, congrats to the UCP on really uniting Albertans today. That’s some great work. They’re united against YOU, but let’s not split hairs… #abed #ableg
Only in Alberta can a party brag about an $8 billion surplus and give themselves sizable raises and increased benefits, then months later there's no money to support education...but there's $14 million to support a pipeline nobody wants to build. #abpoli #ableg
Exactly this.
I’m still not understanding why *teachers* have to negotiate for there to be education assistants in *their* contract. EAs are required. It should be a given that they are hired. Nurses don’t have to negotiate for there to be other types of staff to support patients.
