I use airport lounges almost exclusively for flights where I need to check a bag (mostly international) or during a layover. Any other times, I am minimizing time spent in the airport. Where's better than a lounge? Probably anywhere else I need to be!
With certain rare exceptions max you should wait for an airline lounge is probably 10 minutes, lotta sunk cost fallacy on display, and conditional on there being a wait it's often more crowded and less pleasant inside than in increasingly nice public airport spaces.

A take I rarely see is that Chinese would see a greater number of learners if they swapped from characters to pinyin for writing. The disconnect from learning to speak vs read is a significant deterrent for many people.
