This is a lesson in how easy it is to tackle infrastructure work when lives are at stake. Now please apply the same urgency to protecting pedestrians and other road users.

BREAKING NEWS: The 10 is going to be safe to drive on tomorrow — WEEKS ahead of schedule — because of urgent action and collaboration at all levels of government. When we work together, nothing can stop Los Angeles.

It does seem kind of strange to co-locate the place where we clean ourselves with the place where we expel unpleasant things from our bodies

Since it's apparently #WorldToiletDay: Contrary to popular myth, the palace of Versailles did have toilets and bathrooms. At the time, bathrooms were luxury rooms dedicated to bathing, while toilet facilities were kept in separate spaces. (contd)

I did my part by picking up a copy of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) on dvd at an estate sale yesterday.

Please support physical media. Tried to watch HUSH the other day on Netflx only to realize it's vanished. Best Buy is no longer doing physical media in 2024. This is the first time I've felt we're in dark times as far as physical media goes.

After the last 6 years of not driving regularly, I have noticed that I am much more uncomfortable driving than I used to be and I think this is probably the reason.

Is it RPD operating the helicopter hovering over downtown Riverside during the Festival of Lights event? What an awful experience for the people trying to enjoy the event. The sound is terrible from my house 6 blocks away

Anyone who says the highway system is just too convenient has definitely never taken a train and experienced the sheer joy of getting where you need to go and not having to drive yourself. Think outside the car.

Infrastructure of the two countries do not compare. We've build our society on cars. They've built theirs around mass transit. Never going to get the cultural shift you desire. The freeway system is just too convenient, and our towns are not built around the train station.

I take public transit a lot and it is 100% my whole personality. Waiting on my run of t-shirts that read "Public Transit Slut"

The answer to this question is that we as a society are responsible for the homeless situation. We know how to solve the problem, but no one wants to be honest with themselves about the solutions that work. So no. You don’t get to complain.

This dude pretending like the personal car isn’t the most heavily publicly subsidized conveyance known to man, by a wide margin.

For what it’s worth, I read a lot of Garfield comics as a kid and Chris Pratt voice is way closer to what I imagined than any other version.

The more people that ride public transit, the cheaper, the more profitable, and the better the system gets. On the other hand, the more people who drive cars, the more expensive, the slower, and less efficient it gets. 🚍🚗 #sustainability

It should be illegal for drive through traffic to spill into public roads.

I think @BlaineMN is excited about the new @ChickfilA! That line is insane!

Super curious to know how many workers have lost their jobs to bike lanes already, but I seriously doubt Kent will come through with that data.

Remove the bike lane. Bikes are private transportation for a very small elite. How many more workers need to lose their jobs over this nonsense.

I’m gonna buy so many refrigerators and keep them on the street, as is my right because I don’t have space on my property to store all these refrigerators.

where else would cars be parked? Not everyone has a driveway!

I’m willing to bet that the number one barrier to ridership on Metrolink is frequency of service, constant delays, and nonsense like shutting down completely for a week. Offer service like a proper transit agency and watch ridership grow.

Although Metrolink will not be providing alternate transportation options during this period. We will be sending out information on transportation options that are available from other public transportation agencies as we get closer to the out-of-service dates. ^AR

Today I bought two brand new, critical components for my cargo bikes drive train, and got an oil change for our minivan. The new cassette and chain were cheaper than the oil change.

I am not buying my fucking house from a company called boxabl. There are plenty of manufactured home companies out there with a lot of experience building them. You don’t need to buy from a company with a moronic, already dated, internet-circa-2015 name like boxabl.

Most products we use daily - from breakfast cereal to cars - are mass-produced, so why aren't our homes? We want to revolutionize the housing industry by mass-producing high-quality homes at a fraction of the cost. Follow to learn more about Boxabl.

Interestingly, none of the reasons listed are something to be particularly worried about. Dangerous behavior by drivers when kids are present *should* be a big concern, but that didn’t make the list.
