New WMO report on near-term climate projections finds that global temperatures are likely to remain at highly elevated levels for the next five years. Barring a large volcanic eruption, it is very unlikely that we see a year as cool as 2022 again.
Very impressed by JetZero. What @elonmusk should have been doing. Why? Politics will never be solved. Waste never be eliminated- entropy. Yes, Greater efficiency. Better machines. But increasing human suffering=wrong direction. jetzero.aero
~45% of US corn production is now used to make ethanol, mostly for mixing into gasoline. That's ~13% of all US crop land already used for energy production. Using some of the same land for solar panels would capture 50-100 times more energy per acre.
Most people don’t realize how much solar power China has installed. Enough to power half of America!
If China's 888 GW of installed solar operated at U.S. capacity factors, it would generate 44% of U.S. electricity. We have a massive irradiance advantage, especially compared to Southeastern China. The U.S. should dominate in solar, but we are getting absolutely smoked. Even…
China is deploying vast amounts of solar power
China installed 278 GW of solar last year. 57% more than the U.S. has installed - in total.

The thing that hasn’t sunk in for most people is the scale of climate change. We’re talking about the whole planet. I saw a scientist on the news today saying not only is 2024 the hottest year ever recorded, the 🌎 is hotter now than in at least 100,000 years. #LosAngelesFires
Its pretty stark just how much warmer 2023 and 2024 were globally than any prior year on record.
A recent estimate by a team of Stanford economists attributes almost a quarter of all US innovation since 1976 to high-skilled, foreign-born individuals. This is despite a difficult immigration system. Let's accelerate innovation!

There is a lot happening in the news these days, but it seems like we should be paying a bit more attention to the fact that the world just saw its hottest day on record (in absolute terms), coming on the back of 13 straight record setting months:
Cooling: AC in a Tesla can have a big impact on range. 0-20 miles without, 20-30 with: Wh/mile. There are similar impacts on ICE autos.
