CFD-DEM simulation of erosion around a real-scale bridge performed with #Aspherix and #CFDEMcoupling. The particle bed (0.4 m high, total mass of ~320 metric tons of sand) is resolved by 7million discrete parcels. The air-water flow is simulated with a CFD-DEM coupled VoF-solver.

1-way coupled #DEM #simulation using #Aspherix, based on a pre-calculated flow field of #water flowing over a weir. Rubber #ducks each consisting of 2000 spheres are released on the flowing water, float downstream and eventually hit the weir structure and capsize. ##DEMsoftware
